A Visit to Our Nation's Capital
FOCUS Alternative Learning
Center visited Washington, DC from April 23rd- April 25th.
The Spectrum Unplugged Panel presented in front of members
of the House of Representatives in Washington, DC on Thursday, April 23,
2008. This meeting was set up with the help of Representative Chris
Murphy and his office. The members of FOCUS also took a visit to
Senator Chris Dodd's office. This trip will raise awareness of Autism
Spectrum Disorders and the need for increased resources to our political
leaders. While in DC, Focus was able to do some site-seeing as
well. They saw some of the landmarks in the National Mall, Arlington Cemetery, the White House, as well as the Pentagon.
One of our clients, Ben Carroll is a very talented artist and animal lover. His artwork is now on sale on note cards at the Autism Speaks store. The money raised will go to help research and raise awareness of Autism
